Connections
CobraNet network connections
The CAB 4n features a number of different types of connectors. The first priority is the
CobraNetâ„¢ network port. This RJ-45 connector is designed to connect with standard, off-
the-shelf Category 5 (CAT 5) cable for use with standard Ethernet network switches.
Note: The network must be properly designed for each system. If networking is not a normal
part of your experience, we suggest that you partner with someone with networking
experience.
Configuration 1
A typical CobraNet system includes a CAT 5 cable from each CAB to a network switch. An
additional CAT 5 cable connects the switch to one or more MM-DSP-cn cards within the
MediaMatrix frame or NION CM-1 card.
Note: The example below is the most basic configuration. Large systems on managed
networks can get very complex. We recommend that you get this configuration working
before attempting a more complex one.
