smooth as when you are using analogue gear. Operation above 0 dBFS is also
important. With the new HDX system, it goes well above 0dB. The new HDX
cards also support DSP chip sharing, which lets McDSP plug-ins share chips
with other manufacturers’ plug-ins. Need to boost a vocal a few dB at 3kHz
that is already near 0 dB? Go for it! Have your compressor threshold set to
−6dB, and that kick drum is peaking around +12 dB? No problem! You may set
o a clip indicator light, but the audio will not be clipped, and you can just pull
things back at the master fader.’
Outro
The McDSP plug-in range provides ‘virtual’ software versions of all the standard
recording studio ‘outboard’ processors such as compressors, de-essers, limiters,
multi-band compressors and dynamics processors, equalizers, filters, and
reverberation. It also has emulations of analog ampli ers, tape machines, and
many other types of audio device.
The CompressorBank can emulate the dbx 165, the Neve 2254E/33609, and the
Teletronix LA2A. The MC2000 provides two-, three-, and four-band multi-band
implementations of the CompressorBank plug-ins. The FilterBank can emulate
the Neve 1084, Avalon 2055, GML 8200, Manley, and Pultec equipment. The
Channel G plug-ins can emulate SSL series G and series E console equalizer
sections, Neve, and API console equalizers.
For post-production, McDSP’s FutzBox is a ‘must-have’ tool for sound designers.
The NF575 Noise Filter set is one of the most effective tools available for
removing a variety of unwanted noises and the 6030 Ultimate Compressor is
the ‘go-to’ tool for producers looking for that perfect vocal compressor! The
Retro series plug-ins, despite the name, o er state-of-the-art new designs,
together with the ease-of-use of retro designs that o er familiar controls.
Finally, McDSP’s ML4000 provides a set of high-quality dynamics processors
for mastering applications.
