2. Right-click the director icon at the SAN management application
physical map. A pop-up menu appears.
3. Select the Element Manager option from the pop-up menu. When
the ElementManager applicationopens, thelast viewaccessed by
auseropensbydefault.
4. Inspect director status at the Hardware View and perform one of
the following steps:
If the director appears operational (no FRU alert symbols and
agreen circle at thestatus bar),go toTask 16: ConfigurePFEKey
(Optional) following.
Ifdirector operation appears degraded or afailureis indicated
(FRU alert symbols and a yellow triangle or red diamond on
the status bar), go to Chapter 3, Maintenance Analysis
Procedures (MAPS) to isolate the problem.
Task 16: Configure PFE Key (Optional)
The following PFE-keyed options are available:
Element Manager application - This feature enables out-of-band
director management through an Element Manager interface.
Products are delivered with the application enabled for a 31-day
grace period.Beforegraceperiod expiration, the application must
be reactivated through a PFE key.

Operational - Communication is established, the product is operational,
and no failures are indicated. Go to
Task 16: Configure PFE Key

on page 2-51.
No status

Degraded - Communication is established, but the product is operating
in degraded mode and requires service. This condition is typical if a port
or redundant FRU fails. Go to step 2.
Failed - Communication is established, but the product failed and
requires immediate service. Go to step 2.
Status Unknown - Product status is unknown because of a network
communication failure. Go to step 2.
