A low value indicates a high likelihood of becoming the principal
switch.

TCP See transmission control protocol.
TCP/IP See transmission control protocol/Internet protocol.
Telnet The user command andunderlying TCP/IP protocol for remote
terminal access and connection over a network.
Threshold Alert Log A log recorded at the Element Manager application that displays a
history of threshold alert notifications for a director or switch,
including the date and time an alert occurred.

The TCP/IP transport layer, widely used on Ethernet networks and
any network that conforms to U.S. Department of Defense standards
for network protocol. TCP provides reliable communication and
control through full-duplex connections.

sharing of applications among devices in a high-speed LAN
communication environment.
trap An unsolicited notification of an event originating from an SNMP-
managed device and directed to an SNMP network management
station.
trap recipient In SNMP, a network management station that receives messages for
configured events that occur at a managed director or switch.

ULP See upper level protocol.

The address (specified as a name or IP address) of a document or
