Repair Information
— Hold the duster upright and keep the air nozzle
approximately 50 millimeters (two inches) from the end of the
component.
— Blow compressed air or HFC-134a gas on the surfaces and end
of the connector for approximately five seconds.

3. Gentlywipe theend-face andother surfacesof theconnector with
an alcohol pad (part B of Figure 4-13). Ensure the pad makes full
contact with the surface to be cleaned. Wait approximately five
seconds for cleaned surfaces to dry.
4. Repeat step 2 and step 3 of this procedure (second cleaning).
5. Repeat step 2 and step 3 of this procedure again (third cleaning),
then reconnect the fiber-optic cable to the port.
Downloading Director Firmware and Software
Firmware is the director operating code stored in FLASH memory on
theCTPcard.Upto32firmwareversionscanbestoredonthe
management server hard driveand made available for download to a
director through the Element Manager application. Multiple
firmware versions can be stored on a browser PC hard drive and
made available for download to the director from the EFCM Basic
Edition interface.
This section presents the procedures of:
• Downloading firmware and software versions from the McDATA
Filecenter;
• Downloading firmware and software versions to the director
from the Element Manger Application; and
