Repositories
A repository is a file sharing device that serves out files for clients to download. It does not manage
policies, collect events, or have any code installed. Policies and events are always handled by the
McAfee ePO server or Agent Handler.

Repositories overview
Repositories allow agents to pull software they need based on the client tasks you create in the
McAfee ePO server.
Repository downloads include:
Software
Content
Signatures or DAT files
Patches
The McAfee ePO server always acts as the master repository. It keeps the master copy of all the
content needed by your agents. The McAfee ePO server replicates that content to your distributed
repositories. This allows your agents an alternate and closer source to use for their updates.
The McAfee ePO server requires no configuration to make it the master
repository. It is the master repository by default.
Repository types include:
FTP repositories
HTTP repositories
