• Verifyproperoperationafterservicing.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• Ifaconditionexiststhatcausestheignitioncontroltogo
intosafetylockout,meterreadingsmustbetakenquickly
afterrestart-withintrialforignitionperiod.
• Alwaysde-energizethesystemforatleast 45 seconds
beforerecyclingforfurthertests.
• The ignition control cannot be repaired. If the
troubleshootingprocedureindicatesamalfunctioninthe
control,itmustbereplaced.
HighGasBills
• Checkthecombustionairadjustment.
• Verifythepropersizeoriceisbeingused.
• Checkthereturnairlterisclean.
• Be sure the home is insulated, windows and doors t
tightly,andtherearenoairleaksintheheatingducts.
• Check room thermostat. Make sure the setting is not
higherthannecessary.Lowhumiditylevelsrequirehigher
temperatures for comfort. Perhaps humidity should be
increased.
Burnermotordoesnotrun-thermostatcallsfor
heat.
• Defectivethermostat circuit - bridge TT connections on
burnerjunctionbox.SeeFigure18(page25).Ifburner
motorruns,checkthermostatandconnectionsbetween
furnaceandthermostat.
• No voltage to burner - plug test lamp into burner plug
receptacle.Ifitdoesnotlight,check:
-Blownfuse,electricsupplyoff
-Doorswitchnotmakingcontact
-Limitswitchinopenmode
-Airlterforproperairow
-Loosewireconnections
-Trippedmanualresetauxiliarylimit.
• 120voltsisavailabletoburner-Testlampdoesnotlight.
Removejunctionboxcoveronburner,checkfor:
-Loosewires
-Defectivetransformer
-Defectivemotor
Burnermotordoesnotrun,nomainame.
• Defectivecentrifugal switch. Check switch operation by
removingendbelloftheburnermotor.
• Checkforgassupply-gas line valve andcontrollever
areon.
• Checkforburnersafetylockout.(Restartburner)
• Checkfor24voltstoignitioncontrol(SeeFigure18).
-Novoltageatpurgetimer-checkthecentrifugalswitch
inthecombustionmotor.
-Novoltagetoignitioncontrol-checkpurgetimerand
allow1minutefortimertoactivate.
• Checkfor120voltstoignitioncontrol.Usevoltmeterat

• Remove AMP plug from burner tube receptacle and
checkfor120voltsattheplugduringignitionsequence.
• Replace ignition control if 120 volts is not supplied to
AMPplugwithin3minutesofignitioncyclestart.

1. Disconnectburnerplugfromfurnacereceptacle.
2. DisconnectAMPplugfromburnertubereceptacle.
3. Checkignitorcircuitthroughreceptaclewithanohmmeter.
Normalohmreadingshouldbebetween40to75ohms.
An innite or zero ohm reading indicates a defective
ignitorandmustbereplaced.
5. Check for continuity from ignitor receptacle to burner
ground.
6. Checkforhairlinecracksinignitor’sinsulatingceramic.
24voltssuppliedtogasvalveduringignitionbut
nomaingasow.
• Gasvalvemaybedefective.Replaceifnecessary.
• Gas piping may be plugged. Check for adequate gas
supplytogasvalveatunion.
Mainameignitesbutburnerlocksout.

• Verifyignitorposition.
• Burnermaybedirty,checkfordebris.
• Defectiveignitioncontrol.
• Improper gas pressure or burner air adjustment is not
allowing ame to contact ignitor tip for ame proving
rectication.
