Applications Information
Power-Supply Decoupling
To achieve the best results when using the device,
decouple the V
DD
power supply with a 0.1µF capacitor.
Use a high-quality, ceramic, surface-mount capacitor
if possible. Surface-mount components minimize lead
inductance, which improves performance, and ceram-
ic capacitors tend to have adequate high-frequency
response for decoupling applications.
Decouple the REG18 regulator output using 1µF and
10nF capacitors (one each per output).
Decouple the REG25 pin with 30µF to 47µF of capaci-
tance with an ESR of 0ω to 500mω.
Open-Drain Pins
SCL, SDA, FAULTn, and PGn (when set in MFR_MODE)
are open-drain pins and require external pullup resistors
connected to V
DD
to realize high-logic levels.
Protecting Input Pins
In applications where voltages can be applied to the
RS+[5:0] pins when V
DD
is grounded, a series 100ω
resistor is recommended on these pins to protect the
device by limiting power dissipation.
In applications where voltage can be applied to any other
pin when V
DD
is grounded, a series resistor of 750ω or
greater is recommended on these pins to protect the
device by limiting power dissipation.
