Solution
Make sure your hard disk is using DMA (if your hard disk supports DMA transfers). To use
DMA:

If you’re using the PC-VCR program for video file playback, tooltips may be interfering with
its video window display.

For PC-VCR Remote, disable tooltips:

For other programs, avoid pausing your mouse pointer over controls.

Too many programs may be running (using up computer resources).

Not all hard disks support DMA well. For more information, see the documentation
that came with your hard disk.

If your computer has more than one hard disk, you may get better results if you play
back or capture video files with a disk
other than
the one where the Windows swap file is
stored. (The Windows swap file is usually stored on drive “

”.)
