5 Connect your input devices
(optional)
To use a USB device (such as a keyboard or
mouse), connect it to a USB connector on
your unit. There are two USB connectors at
the back of the unit and three at the front.
6 Connect your audio devices
(optional)
Your unit has two input connectors (
Line in
() and
Microphone
()) and two
output audio connectors (
Headphones
() and
Line out
()). All audio
connectors support stereo jack connectors.
To connect an audio device to your unit:

Plug one end of your audio cable into
the audio connector on your unit.

Plug the other end of the cable in your audio device. For information on the type of
connector supported by your audio device, see its documentation.
Note:
Isochronous USB devices (for
example, USB audio and video devices
such as a microphone or Webcam) aren’t
supported with an Extio unit.

Note:
To use a keyboard with your unit before your operating system starts, connect the
USB connector of your interface card to your computer (see “Connect your USB cable”,
page 12), and connect your keyboard to the USB connector labeled with a keyboard icon
( ) at the back of your unit.
Audio
connector
Note:
To use the audio hardware on your unit, your interface card needs to be connected
to your computer with a USB cable (see “Connect your USB cable”, page 12).
If you’re using multiple interface cards in your system, make sure you enable the audio
driver for the unit to which your audio hardware is connected.
Note:
Audio output is enabled on the
Line out
( ) connector even while a device is
connected to the
Headphones
() connector.
