Refer to the following examples to know how to set the Filters.
Examples of Filter settings:
To capture packets of source port 5060, set the filter as src port 5060
To capture packets of destination port 80, set the filter as dst port 80
To capture packets transmitted from IP address 192.168.1.176, set the filter as src host 192.168.1.176
To capture packets received from IP address 192.168.1.176, set the filter as dst host 192.168.1.176
It is not mandatory to set Filters. When the Filter Settings field is left blank, the system will capture all
packets.
5. You may select the check box to enable Promiscuous Mode if you want. Default: Disabled.
When you enable Promiscuous Mode, the SETU ATA211 will capture all network traffic. However, this will
work only in a non-switched environment.
When Promiscuous Mode is disabled, the system will capture only traffic that is directly related to it. Only
traffic to, from or routed through the SETU ATA211 will be picked up by the PCAP Trace.
'Filter Settings' and 'Promiscuous Mode' (enabled) will not be cleared during power down.
6. Click the Start button to begin the capturing of the packets.
7. Click the Stop button to stop packet capture.
OR
Wait for the system to stop packet capturing. The system stops packet capturing once the maximum
allotted memory of 1 MB (RAM) is utilized.
Number of Packets and bytes captured as per the filter setting will be displayed as Packets Captured and
Total Bytes.
The Status field displays the current activity of packet capturing.
Capturing of packets will not stop if you open any other page of Jeeves. So, you may continue using
Jeeves for any other purpose while PCAP Trace is being used.
8. When the packet capturing is stopped (by you or the system), click the Save Trace File button to save the
files on your computer or on another computer.
A dialog box open. You can select the path for saving the trace file.
The current packets captured will not be deleted after you have saved the trace file. The current packets
will be deleted when you start the PCAP capture again.
9. You may log out of Jeeves.
