Introduction
You can use a target PC as an electronic control unit (ECU ) for a Vector
CANape
®
system. U sing a target PC in this way, a Vector CANape system
canreadsignalsandparametersfromatarget application running on the
target PC.
The xPC Target software suppo rts polling and event driven modes for
data a c q ui si tio n . Polling mode data acquisitio n is straightforw ard. Event
mode data acquisition requires additional settings (see “Event Mode Data
Acquisition” on page 14-11).
Note This chapter describes how to configure x PC Target and Vector
CANape software to work together. It also assumes that you are familiar with
the Vector CANape product family. See
http://www.vector-cantech.com
for further information about the Vector CA N ape products.
The xPC Target software works with Vector CANape version 5.6 and higher.
To enable a target PC to w ork with Vector CANape software, you need to:
• Configure Vector CANape to communicate with the xPC Target software
as an ECU.
• Enable the xPC Target software to generate a target application that can
provide data compliant with Vector CAN ape.
• Provide a standard TCP/IP physical layer between the host PC and target
PC. The xPC Target software supports Vector C ANape only through
TCP/IP.
To support the XCP communication layer, the xPC Target softw a re provides:
