How to Refine N onlinear Black-Box Models in the
GUI
The following procedure assumes that the model you want to rene is already
in the S ystem Identication Tool G UI. You might have estimate d this model
in the current se ssion or imported the model into the GUI from the MATLAB
workspace. For more i nform a tion about estima tin g nonlinear b l ack - bo x
models, see Chapter 4, “Nonlinear Black-Box M odel Identication”.
To rene your model:
1 In the System Identication Tool GUI, verify that you have the correct data
set in the Working Data area for rening your model.
If you are using a different data set than the one you used to estimate the
model, drag the correct data set into the Working D ata area. For m ore
information about specifying estimation data, see “Specifying Estimation
and Validation Data” on page 1-29.
2 Select Estimate > Nonlinear models to open the Nonlinear Models
dialog box, if this dialog box is not alre ady open.
3 In the Nonlinear Models dialog box, select the model y ou want to rene
in the Initial model list.
The list in c lu des only those models that ha ve the sel ected Model
structure and the same number of inputs and outputs as the estimation
data in Working D ata area.
Any setting s in the Nonline ar Models dialog b ox related to model structure
and estim ation algorithms a re overridden by the selected i nitial model.
