3 Linear Model Identification
How to Refine Linear Parametric Models in the GUI
The following procedure assumes that the model you want to rene is already
in the S ystem Identication Tool G UI. You might have estimate d this model
in the current ses sion or imported the model from the MAT LAB w orkspace.
For informatio n about importing mode ls into the GUI, see “Importing Models
into the GUI” on page 12-9.
To rene your model:
1 In the System Identication Tool GUI, verify that you have the correct data
set in the Working Data area for rening your model.
If you are using a different data set than the one you used to estimate the
model, drag the correct data set into the Working D ata area. For m ore
information about specifying estimation data, see “Specifying Estimation
and Validation Data” on page 1-29.
2 Select Estimate > Linear parametric models to open the Linear
Parametric Models dialog box, if this dialog box is not already open.
3 In the Linear Parametric Models dialog box, select By Initi al Model from
the Structure list.
4 Enter the model name into the Initial model eld, and p ress Enter.
The model name must be in the Model Board of the System Identication
Tool GUI or a variable in the MATLAB workspace.
Tip As a shortcut for specifying a model in the Model Board, you can drag
the model icon from the System Identication Tool GU I into the Initial
model eld.
When you enter the model name, algorithm settings in the Linear
Parametric Models dialog box override the initial model settings.
5 Modify the algorithm settings, d isplayed in the Linear Parametric M odels
dialog box, if necessary.
6 Click E stimate to rene the model.
