Other Desktop Features
Status Bar
Along the bottom o
f the desktop is the status bar. It displays messages,
such as when MATL
AB is busy executing statements or when the Profiler
is on. S o m e too ls
, such as the Editor/Debugger, display additional status
information, su
ch as the current line number. Not a ll status information
appears on the s
tatus bar m any MATLAB functions and tools provide
status informa
tion that is not reported to the status bar.
You can constru
ct your own functions to provide status information. See the
timer functio
n, and search for other specific terms describing the status of
interest.
Sizing, Arra
nging, and Sorting Columns in Tools
Some desktop t
ools present information in columns, such as the Current
Directory b r
owser.
To change the
column width, drag the separator bar between two column
headings in a
tool. When a column is too narrowtoshowalltheinformation
in it, posit
ion the pointer over an item and the full value for that item displays
like a toolt
ip.
To rearrang
e the columns in a tool, drag the column header to a d ifferent
position. T

header. Fo
r example, in the Current Directory browser, click the Last
Modified d
ate to sort the items in date order. S ome columns also allow yo u
to reverse
the sort order by clicking the column header again. A small gray
arrow in th
e heade r indicates the current sort order for example, an up
arrow in t
he Last Modified Date column header indicates an ascending sort
order, me
aning the oldest files are at the top of the list.
