Troubleshooting
If you receive this error when starting a worker with the Distributed
Computing Engine
- You may be calling the startworker command from a n installation that
does not have access to a worker license. For example, starting a worker
from a client ins tallation o f Distributed Computing Toolbox cause s the
following error.
The mdce servi ce on the host hostname
returned the f ollowing error:
Problem startin g the MATLAB worker.
The cause of this problem is:

Most likely, th e MATLAB worker fa iled to start due t o a
licensing probl em, or MATLAB crash ed during startup. Check
the worker log file
/tmp/mdce_user/node_node_worker_05-11-01_16-52-03_ 953. log
for more detail ed information. The mdce log file
/tmp/mdce_user/mdce-service.log
may also contai n some additional information.

In the worker log files, you will see the follow ing information.
License Manage r Error -15.
Cannot connect to license server
The server (l mgrd) has not been started yet , or
the wrong por t@host or license file is being used, or the
port or hostn ame in the license file has been c hang ed.

For further in formation, refer to the FLEXlm End User Manual,

MATLAB is unab le to connect to the license server.
Make sure the SERVER line in your license file is correct.
