3 Configuring Parallel Computing Products for HPC Server
Validate Installatio n Using Microsoft Windows HPC Se rve r
This procedure verifies that your parallel computing products are installed
and configured correctly for using Microsoft
®
Windows H PC Server or
Compute Cluster Server (CCS).
Step 1: Define a User Configuration
In this step you define a user co nfiguration to use in subsequent steps.
1 Start the Configurations Manager from the MATLAB desktop by selecting
Parallel > Manage Configurations.
2 Create a new configuration in the Configurations M anager dialog box by
selecting File > New > hpcserver (ccs).
3 In the HPC Server Scheduler Configuration Properties dialog box, pro vide
text or settings for the following fields:
a Set the Configuration name field to HPCTest.
b Set the Description field to For testing installation with HPC
Server
.
c Set the Root directory of MATLAB to the installation location of the
MATLAB to be executed by the worker machines, as determ ined in
Chapter 1 of the installation instructions.
d Set the Directory where job data is stored to the location, accessible
to all the worker machines, where you want job and task data to be
stored.
e Set the HPC scheduler hostname fieldtothenameofthehoston
which your scheduler is running. Depending on your network, this might
be only a host name, or it m ight have to be a fully qualified domain name.
f If you want to test SOA job submissions on an HPC Server 2008 cluster,
set Workers run in SOA mode to
True. Otherwise leave the setting
Unset or False. If you plan on using SOA job submissions with your
cluster, you should test this first without SOA submission, then later
return and test it with SOA job submission.
