Installation Instructions

DOUBLE EXTERIOR DOOR SYSTEM
Remove all dust and debris from the surface of the door. Lightly sand the
door surface with a fine sand paper. Wash the door with a mild detergent
and rinse very well. Allow the door to dry completely. Apply a finishing coat
of a high quality latex paint. Carefully follow all paint manufacturers’
preparation and finishing instructions. Do not paint the weatherstrip. Do not
close the door unit until the paint is completely dry. Please see door
window for finishing instructions for the window frame.
Note: Prefinished steel door products are produced using a protective film over the steel.
This film must be removed within 48 hours of installation.

Finishing Recommendations

Apply flashing tape along the edges of
the brickmould by cutting two pieces of
flashing tape 4" longer than the height of
the brickmould. The tape should extend 2"
above and 2" below the door. Bend the
tape so that it covers about 1/2 of the
brickmould thickness. (fig.39)

Remove all excess shimming material by
first scoring the shims, then breaking them
off with a hammer. (fig.48)

Make sure the corner seals are in place.
If they have been removed during finishing,
please make sure they are replaced. There
will be one seal per hinge jamb, and one
applied to the bottom of the astragal flush
with the bottom of the rubber astragal boot.

Cut two pieces of flashing tape at least
1" longer than the diagonal cuts in the
