All of our MASTERCRAFT
®
doors have corner seals
installed in the bottom corners of the frame on an exterior
door. These seals help to prevent air leakage and water
from entering the home. Make sure that the corner seals
are in good condition once the door is installed. If a seal
shows signs of damage, promptly replace the damaged
seal with a new corner seal, which are available at your
local store.

All exterior frame styles need to be caulked in three major
locations to stop the infiltration of water and air:
Caulking of door
Check these areas once a
year and re-caulk as needed.
Keeping these areas caulked
will increase the life span of your
door maintaining its function and
beauty for years to come.
Caulking around the brickmould
A bead of caulk should be applied around the outer
edge of the brickmould and where the brickmould
contacts the frame to prevent infiltration from between
the door and the house.
Caulking around the sides of the sill
The sill should be caulked from the front of the sill,
around the weatherstrip and corner seal, to the back of
the sill; anywhere the sill contacts the frame.
Caulking under the sill
Caulk underneath the sill and along the bottom of the
sill, where the sill connects to the ground.
