SECTION 9 - APPLICATION
SECTION 10 – APPLICATION TOOLS
SECTION 11 – CAUTION
Before attempting to apply, mix the product well in a circular upward-downward motion, preferably with a mechanical agitator. Apply it
using a good quality long hair roller or an airless spray machine. In small areas and corners, it can be applied with a brush. For best results:
Apply in accordance with Guide Specifications, available at Master Paints and Chemical Corp. and at your retail store.
Airless Machine Application: Mix this product with a mechanical mixer. Remove the filter of the suction pump and the machine filter.
Program the machine to apply this product with 1,400 to 1,750 psi and use a fan width of 6 in order to control the overspray of material. Use a
pistol tip for a .29” to a .41” spray. Make sure that rain is not forecasted for that day. If the roof is too hot, spray it lightly with water so that
the sealer does not dry too quickly.
Recommended Film Thickness: 20 mils dry / 40 mils wet
Coverage: Two coats must be applied in order to get the recommended 20 mils dry film thickness (MDFT). Apply each coat in different
directions and wait 12 hours between each coat. Select a clear and sunny day for application.
Coverage 1 coat ft² (m²) per pail
Concrete Surfaces
400 ft² (37.5 m²) per pail @ 10 MDFT
Metal Surfaces
800 ft² (37.5 m²) per pail @ 5 MDFT
Foam Surfaces
400 ft² (37.5 m²) per pail @ 10 MDFT
Thinning: This product is ready to use and should be applied full strength as received in the can. Any thinning of the product will reduce the
percentage of solids, which will adversely affect the dry film thickness and the durability of the applied sealer.
Clean UP: Clean all application equipment with soap and water.
It can be applied using a brush, roller, or atomizer.
HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. MAY CAUSE EYE, NOSE AND THROAT IRRITATION. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES
AND AVOID BREATHING OF VAPORS AND SPRAY MIST. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. When applying spray,
use respiratory protection (NIOSH/MSHA TC23C or equivalent), eye protection and protective clothing. Before use, ask and read the Safety
Data Sheet (SDS) of the product, available at Master Paint & Chemical Corp. Close container after each use. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF
CHILDREN.
SECTION 8 – SURFACE PREPA
R
ATION
Roof surface should be cleaned by eliminating all residues of dust, sand, cement, mold, mildew, and strange particles. Use a water pressure
machine. Roof’s drain system should be repaired if it does not allow water to exit. For concrete roofs, repair holes that are greater than ½ inch
or any water ponding area by using Masterflex Leveling Repair®.
Crack Repair: All joints and cracks have to be sealed. Apply Masterflex Elastomeric Crack Filler® with a spatula and the Masterflex
Fiberglass Patch Weave® on top of cracks, joints, and around all objects that are anchored to the roof, by covering at least two inches more on
each side. Let it dry for 24 hours before applying the roof sealer.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust or fumes. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST OR FUMES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a properly fitted NIOSH approved respirator and prevent skin contact to control
lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by
contacting the USEPA National lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424 LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
