How to connect via USB port
The CF card in the PMD580 appears as an external drive on
a connected computer.
1. Power up the computer
Note:
Check the operating system of your computer.
Windows Me, 2000, XP, Vista., MAC OS 10
2. Insert a CF card.
3. Power up the PMD580.
4. During STOP mode, connect the USB cable attached
to the PMD580 and your computer.
• While USB is on, a set screen is displayed.
• No buttons other than the POWER button function.
• During USB mode the eject or insert of a CF card is
possible, however, there is no guarantee for data in
case of ejecting.”
• An archive function stops while the USB is on.
• The CF card in the PMD580 appears as a removable
device on your computer.
• The audio files are in a folder that is named
MPGLANG1 or a folder you made using the Make
Folder function.
• Power off and back on to resume recording or
playback on the PMD580.
How to disconnect via USB port
1. Disconnect the cable to the PMD580 and your
computer.
• An archive function resumes if it is set to be active.
Serial Remote Control
Connect a male (D-Sub 9 Pin) to female (D-Sub 9 Pin)
straight cable for RS-232C external control by host
equipment.
The RS-232C host can control functions of the PMD580
externally.

Notes:
OK(ACK:06h) or ERR(NACK:15h) is returned for the
Control Command.
The Status information is transmitted automatically when the
status is changed.
For sending Control Command or Status Request Command,
wait more than 100ms after reception of a response(OK, ERR
or status).
