With the advent of HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc™, new High Definition (HD) Audio
signals are available, which offer more details, more effects, and more realism in sound on
up to 7.1 independent channel. The new HD Audio standards coming are called Dolby
Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. There are two ways for decoding the digital
HD Audio signal. First is by dedicated decoder for the new formats built into the AV
receiver like on SR8002 and SR7002. The second option is to use the HD Audio signal
in 7.1 Multichannel PCM format, which is created by the HD-DVD or Blu-ray Disc™
player out of the Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD signal. There is no loss
on information or resolution – no degradation in sound quality.
All Marantz AV receivers with HDMI input support the High Definition Audio 7.1
Multichannel PCM signal. All are ready for the future HD Audio.
