THERMOSTAT SAFETY FEATURE – RECEIVER (T/S –RX)
ThisECSremotecontrolhasaTHERMOSTATSAFETYfeaturethatisbuiltintothesystem’sRECEIVER.Thisfeatureis
temperature-activatedandprovidesanextramarginofsafetywhentheRECEIVERisoperatingwhereambienttempera-
turesexceed130°Fdegreesinsidethereceivercase.
TheTHERMOSTATSAFETYfeature,intheRECEIVER,operatesinthefollowingmanner,whenthereplaceisinopera-
tion.
Thereceiveristhermallyprotectedfromextremeheatconditions.Heatcanhavenegativeeffectontheoperationofthe
receiver’smicroprocessors.
ForREMOTERECEIVERSthatoperateonBATTERYPOWER,theseheatconditionscancausebatteriestodischarge
whentemperaturesexceed115°F.Studiesshowthatalkalinebatteries,whenexposedtoaconstanttemperatureof115°F,
canloseupto50%oftheiroperatingpower.Whenthebatterycoolsdown,itwillpartiallyrechargeitself,butconstantheat-
ingandcoolingwillreducethebattery’snormallifeexpectancy.
WhentheambienttemperatureattheTHERMISTOR,inside the receiver case, reaches 130°F,theTHERMISTORwillauto-
maticallyshutthereplacedownandtheRECEIVERwillbeginemittingaseriesof2“beeps”,every4seconds.Whenthe
ambienttemperature,attheRECEIVER,dropsbetween120°Fand130°F,theusercanreactivatethereplacebypushing
the MODEbuttononthetransmitter.ThewordONmustdisplayontheLCDscreen.WhentheMODEbuttonispressedto
ON,theTHERMISTOR“resets”itselfandthereplacewillbeginoperatingagain.However,the“beeping”willcontinue,if
theambienttemperatureremainsbetween120°Fand130°F. This“beeping”alertstheuserthattheRECEIVERshouldbe
repositionedsotheambienttemperaturedropsbelow120°F.
Whenthetemperaturedropsbelow120°F,the“beeping”willcease,providingtheuserhas“reset”theTHERMISTORby
pushingtheMODEbuttontoONtooperatethereplace,eithermanuallyorthermally.Allowsufcienttimeforthereceiver
tocoolbelow120°F,andthenpressMODEbuttontostopbeeping.
MATCHING SECURITY CODES
Eachtransmittercanuse oneof1,048,576uniquesecuritycodes.Itmaybenecessary toprogramtheremotereceiver
toLEARNthesecuritycodeofthetransmitteruponinitialuse,ifbatteriesarereplaced,orifareplacementtransmitteris
purchasedfromyourdealerorthefactory.Whenmatchingsecuritycodes,besureslidebuttononthereceiverisintheRE-
MOTEposition;thecodewillNOT“LEARN”iftheslideswitchisintheOFFposition.ProgramtheremotereceivertoLEARN
anewsecuritycodebypushingintheLEARNbuttononthetopoftheremotereceiverandthenpressinganybuttononthe
transmitter.Achangeinthebeepingpattern,atthereceiver,indicatesthetransmitter’scodehasbeenprogrammedintothe
receiver.Whenanexistingreceiverismatchedtoanewtransmitter,thenewsecuritycodewilloverwritetheoldone.
Themicroprocessorthatcontrolsthesecuritycodematchingprocedureiscontrolledbyatimingfunction.Ifyouareunsuc-
cessfulinmatchingthesecuritycodeontherstattempt,wait1-2minutesbefore
tryingagain--thisdelayallowsthemicroprocessortoresetitstimercircuitry--andtry
uptotwoorthreemoretimes.
TRANSMITTER WALL CLIP
Thetransmittercanbehungonawallusingtheclipprovided.Iftheclipisinstalled
onasolidwoodwall,drill1/8”pilotholesandinstallwiththescrewsprovided.Ifitis
installedonaplaster/wallboardwall,rstdrilltwo1/4”holesintothewall.Thenuse
ahammertotapinthetwoplasticwallanchorsushwiththewall;theninstallthe
screwsprovided.
