PROGRAMMABLE X-MAS TREE
Warnings
Do not place or use the Micro:bit and Arduino at the same time.
After you soldered the Arduino to the PCB, the Micro:bit cannot be used anymore.
Prior to the assembly, read the manual thoroughly.
Observe the correct polarity of the batteries.
Keep the batteries dry. When the X-mas tree gets wet, remove the batteries and let the X-mas tree dry for some time.
Remove the batteries when you are not using the machine for a longer period.
Normal use
This device has been designed as a SchoolLab kit for everybody who is interested in technology and programming. For this kit, the objective
is the development of the programming skills for the Micro:bit and Arduino software.
The X-mas tree shows the result of the programming job directly. The software can also be used to control regular LED strips.
This product is not a toy and not suited for children under 7 years of age. Any use other than that described above can lead to damage to

This X-mas tree is programmable with Micro:bit or Arduino Nano. The X-mas has leaves with 12 pro-
grammable WS-2812 LEDS. These LEDS are addressable from 1 to 12 and connected with Pin 2 of the
Micro:bit or the Arduino Nano Pin D9 (PB1).
The X-mas tree is powered with 3 pcs. 1,5 Volt AA batteries. It is important that the Micro:bit and
Arduino Nano are not connected to the X-mas tree at the same time, it operates or with the Micro:bit
or with the Arduino Nano! The LEDS are programmed as WS-2812 or als “Neopixel LEDSTRIP”. With
the Micro:bit you must include the Neopixel extension before programming.
For schools and hobbyists, there are books and worksheets available with exercises and examples.
