The Darlington circuit
Connecting two transistors the way we see in the diagram is
called Darlington circuit. The amplification of two transistors is
greater than using just one. This holds especially true for this
circuit, where the already amplified current is amplified even
more by a second transistor. The inventor Sidney Darlington,
who came up with this idea in 1952 gave the circuit its name.
Both collectors are interconnected, and the emitter of the first
transistor flows to the base of the second. The Darlington
circuit behaves like a single transistor with huge power ampli-
fication.
