Install the pushbutton switch in the circuit. The LED now
only switches on when you press the button. At rest,
the circuit is disrupted. When you press the button, the
circuit is closed.
A switch
6
A switch consists of moveable metal parts
that either touch each other or have a gap
between them. They are called contacts. In
these pushbutton switches, a spring pushes
the contacts away from each other. But when
you press the button, you push the contacts
at the connectors PB1 and PB2 together and
thereby close the circuit. The abbreviation PB
stands for Push-Button.
By the way, it doesn’t matter where the
switch is installed in the circuit. It is now
located in the negative line. If you install it
in the positive line, it will work in exactly the
same way. But there is one difference. As
soon as you use more than one colour, you
either need more than one switch or you
use a switch within the negative line, which
switches all colours on and off together.
Add the second
switch to the circuit.
It isn’t sufficient now
to just press one
button, because the
circuit is only closed
when both buttons
are pressed. You
have now created
an AND circuit. The
LED only switches
on when switch A
AND switch B are
pressed.
