Minimum Hearth Dimensions
• Turn off gas supply to Masonry fireplace or
manufactured wood burning firebox.
• Have the fireplace floor and chimney professionally
cleaned to remove ashes, soot, creosote or other
obstructions. Have this cleaning performed annually
after installation.
• Seal any fresh air vents or ash clean-out doors lo-
cated on floor or wall of fireplace. If not, drafting may
cause pilot outage or sooting. Use a heat-resistant
sealant.
A damper stop is provided with the unit. The damper stop
must be installed as shown in Figure 2 to prevent full clo-
sure of the fireplace damper blade and provide a minimum
flue opening, per table below.
Should the clamp not fit, or provide the required permanent
opening from the table have the damper blade cut to pro-
vide minimum permanent opening or a permanent stop
installed.

Damper Stop Installation
Installation of this vented gas log set in the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts requires the damper be permanently
removed or welded in the fully open position. In addition, a
naturally vented gas log may not be installed in a bedroom
or bathroom in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
