Step 1. Before removing the OEM manifold system, first
disconnect the battery. Next remove all spark plug wires
from the coils and the plugs, and then set aside. Using a
10mm socket unbolt the coil pack brackets from the driver
side and passenger side and carefully flip them up towards
the motor to keep out of the way. Using a 5/8" socket
remove all of the spark plugs for clearance.
Step 2. Using a 7/8" wrench disconnect all oxygen
sensor connectors. Unbolt both driver side and passenger
side catalytic converters from the manifold using a 15mm
socket. Unbolt the passenger side converter from the
y-pipe assembly using a 15mm socket. Unbolt the bracket
covering the y-pipe assembly using a 14mm socket and
remove. Then unbolt and loosen the clamp at the rear
section of the y-pipe using a 15mm socket. Push the
muffler assembly backs enough to free the y-pipe assembly
then remove. After the y-pipe assembly has been removed
then remove the passenger side converter from the
manifold.
Step 3. Using a 16mm socket unbolt the dipstick
assembly from the passenger side of the vehicle and
remove.
Step 4. At the top of each manifold unbolt both EGR
pipes using a 10mm socket. Using a 10mm socket then
unbolt both OEM manifold flanges. The OEM manifold
assemblies can now be removed.
