Displaying your own icons in browser tabs:
favicons
You may want to display your own customized icon, for example, a logo, on your site's page tabs when
they are displayed in a web browser. Web Designer Premium allows you to do this by applying the name
'favicon' to your custom tab icon.
To create a 'favicon', draw or drag on to a web page the image that you want to use. The image can be
any size as it will be scaled to the right size automatically when displayed in a browser.
In the Names dialog, type 'favicon' into the Apply names box and click Add then Close
.
Preview your website in your choice of web browser. The easiest way is to click one of the Preview
icons and in the Web Designer MX Premium preview window, and then choose one of the web
browsers in the top right of the preview window.
Your web page tab is displayed with the custom icon, as shown in the example below.
You can only use one favicon per website. Publish your website and view it to see your favicon.
Tip
: Internet Explorer and Chrome don't show the favicon if the page is loaded from your local disc, which is
normally the case when you're building and previewing your website before publishing it. At time of
writing, Firefox does show it even for local pages, so use it to check your favicon. Once your site is
published the favicon should work in all popular web browsers.
