- Working with music editor 2
Zooming
Zooming is used to display more or less information in a VIP window. When using higher zoom levels,
the track contents are displayed in higher detail. For example, automation curves may be edited more
easily by using a higher zoom level. The individual curve events are further apart and allow work that is
more detailed.
On the other hand, a long project may already be at a high zoom level and in order to see the complete
contents of the VIP you may need to zoom out.
MAGIX music editor 2
offers you a large number of options working with zoom levels in a VIP. For example, ranges can be
used to quickly zoom into the project by double clicking on the selected range. The length of the range is
used to make it the visible contents of the VIP window.
Another example is the double clicking of left mouse button in upper half of a track. This will zoom out of
the VIP window.
Here is a list of all the zoom features of MAGIX music editor 2
:
Zoom using the Position Toolbar:
The Buttons are quite self-explanatory, the red buttons are for zooming horizontally the wave form, the
blue ones for zooming tracks vertically. All Options are also available in the View Menu- Horizontal /
Vertical. So you can map your preferred keyboard shortcuts on it.
Zoom using the Mouse:
The mouse is used to select ranges for zooming. You can double click the mouse into the upper half of
the track pane to quickly zoom out of the VIP window. Each double click zooms out at a preset interval.
If a range is marked, you can zoom in the range by double clicking inside the range.
The most elegant method for zooming with the mouse is to click on the grid bar or marker bar and drag
the mouse vertically. Dragging up zooms out, dragging down zooms in.
Zoom using the Keyboard
Ctrl + Right Arrow zooms out of the window, Ctrl + Left Arrow zooms into the window. You can use
alt+ Arrow keys by themselves to ‘slide’
the track sections in the window to the left or right if the zoom level allows you to.
Zoom using the Scrollbar
The vertical and horizontal scrollbars of the VIP window can be used to change the zoom level of the
window. If the mouse pointer is positioned over the left or right end of the horizontal scrollbar, the pointer
changes into a left-right arrow. This lets you grab the ends of the scrollbar and change the zoom level of
the window. The length of the window section displayed is indicated on the left side of the horizontal
scrollbar. In other words, the numbers shown on the scrollbar tell you the length of the audio section
displayed in SMPTE time (minutes, seconds and frames).
The scrollbar can be dragged to the left or right to scroll through the window contents.
The vertical scrollbar lets you scroll through the available VIP tracks if the zoom level has changed to a
higher track display resolution. In other words, if you zoomed vertically into the VIP window, fewer
tracks are visible. At the same time the vertical scrollbar was reduced in length. You can grab the
scrollbar to display the other tracks in the VIP.
