virtual loop.
Example 4:
A selected range can be played back, using the various playback options of MAGIX music editor 2
. You may even adjust the range length and position while the playback takes place.
During editing of a news piece for radio, the producer of the show previews several ranges to cut the
full-length audio of the news report down to a usable length. Ranges can be used to audition the cuts and
to further edit objects.
Selecting a Range:
To select a range, move the mouse pointer to a section in the window display ( if in Universal or Range
mouse mode) and click the left mouse button. While holding the button clicked, drag a range by moving
the mouse to the right. The range is indicated by the vertical rectangle displayed in the window.
Next, release the mouse button. MAGIX music editor 2
displays the range values in the time fields underneath the horizontal scroll bar of the project window.
The Range can also be selected by dragging the range on the time bar. This at firsts selects a range only
for playback, not for editing functions. Only the according area on the time bar will be shown in another
color. A double click on this time bar area selects a range in the selected track, another double click
selects the range in all tracks, the next double click returns to the timebar only selection.
De-Selecting a Range:
If you want to select a different range or want to deactivate the current range selection, click the mouse
button once into the project window. The previous range disappears and the window can be used to
select a new range.
Reactivate Range
If you have deselected a range, you will notice, that the prior range is displayed as a gray area on the
time bar. Double clicking on this range selects the prior range again. You can also call "RangeàReactivate
Range" or press shift-Backspace. By further executing this command you can reactivate the last five
selected ranges.
Changing a Range:
If you want to change an already selected range outline (beginning, end, upper, and lower border),
simply click the left mouse button into the range and while holding the button, move the mouse in the
direction you want to extend or shorten the range. As soon as the mouse pointer crosses over the current
range border, the program picks up the border and snaps it to the mouse pointer. You now can move the
range border to the new point and release the mouse button.
You can also move the horizontal range borders with the keyboard: cursor left/right moves the start,
shift-cursor left/right the end of the range.
Moving a Range Horizontally:
Hold the Shift key while clicking inside a range. Next, hold the left mouse button clicked and move the
range to the new position. Release the mouse button to place the range at the new location.
Saving Ranges and Special Range Commands:
Ranges and markers can be saved with the help of menu functions or keyboard shortcuts.
MAGIX music editor 2 can store an unlimited number of ranges and markers. These and other special
functions to define, change, and use ranges can be found in the menu Ranges
