from the left to the right channel and vice versa. It adheres to the same guidelines as the volume
automation.
Volume Fader
This fader sets the main level for the track volume. If the volume automation is active, the events along
the automation line will determine the level at a specific time event. However, the volume fader will allow
you to alter the overall level of the track and the automation events are scaled to the new main level
setting. This will prevent having to redraw the volume automation if the overall volume of track needs to
be adjusted.
Panning Fader
The panning fader works much like the volume fader and will have the same effect on any panning
automation assigned to the track.
LED Display
The LED display shows the track volume levels during recording and playback. It is updated in a
manner that closely resembles LED’
s on hardware consoles. However, on slower systems it is recommended to turn them off (Shift+TAB).
Object
Some DAW applications use so-called ‘regions’ that contain audio events. We chose to call these
regions ‘objects’
since they more closely resemble a separate entity that can be edited as an independent object. They are
like building blocks in a Lego™ house if you will. Each contains specific instructions about the audio
section that is edited and played back by the object.
Keep in mind that objects do not contain the actual audio material. Rather they are ‘pointers’ to the audio
in the physical audio files or windows (RAP and HDP). This is the reason why editing steps such as
moving, copying, dividing (splitting), cutting (deleting), or duplicating are extremely fast. After all, we are
only editing instructions
and not the actual audio itself.
Objects can also have their own Fade In, Fade Out and volume setting.
Range
Ranges in VIPs allow you to selectively edit objects that are located within a range. Ranges can be
moved, extended, or shortened to size them for specific needs. Let’
s assume that you wanted to select objects up to 2 minutes into the project. Selecting a range over the
contents up to the 2-minute position and choosing Object->Select Objects would do the trick!
Screen Formatting Buttons
These buttons can be assigned with a specific screen formatting setting. For example, clicking on the
second ‘S’
button while holding the Shift key and zooming into the window will always return the same setting when
clicking on this button again.
The ‘S‘ buttons store complete Zoom/Scrolling setups, while the ‘Z‘
buttons only store a custom zoom level.
Scroll Bars
The scroll bars allow you to move along the time line of the project if you have zoomed into the window
