Track Bouncing
Menu: Tools
The current virtual multi-track project (VIP) can be converted into a WAV file or MAGIX music editor
2 HD Wave project and saved with a new name. All tracks in the VIP are mixed and all real-time
processing, cuts, crossfades, all Mixer settings, Mixer effects, DirectX
Plug-Ins, Volume automation, Panorama automation are included in the bounced version.
The function ‘Track Bouncing’
may require a large amount of storage, depending on the length of the VIP.
Four track projects are internally mixed to combine two tracks for playback on each channel. To prevent
clipping, an amplitude reduction of 6 dB is applied (which corresponds with a 50% representation of the
source material).
For eight track projects, the reduction is normally 12 dB. However, you can change the value in
File->Properties->Project Info (shortcut: i
).
Bouncing Sub Mix Busses
You can also bounce a Sub Mix bus, every track routed to the sub mix bus will be included in the
bouncing process, even recursive (if the track sending to the bus is a bus itself).
This becomes handy when you want to Mixdown all tracks sending to a specific submix bus.
If you bounce several tracks or just the active track (Option: only marked tracks/active track) with the
Option "New object in actual VIP" or "replace objects" and this selection includes a Sub Mix bus, then it
is possible that the resulting object will be placed at just this sub mix bus. It’s even most likely, this is
because busses usually not contain objects (although they can) and the object will be placed at the first
empty track found. In this case the track FX (including pan/volume automation) of the sub mix bus will be
excluded from the bouncing progress. This prevents that the fx are applied twice (once from bouncing
and once from the track real-time fx).
You cannot bounce Aux Busses in this way, you have to include the tracks, which are sending to these
busses to have the correct result.
