4 3. Safety and Warning notices Incorrect use of the Car Black Box and accessories can be dangerous for you and others and can damage or destroy the Car Black Box. We therefore ask you to read and strictly observe the following hazard, safety and warning notices. Intended use This Car Black Box is intended for taking video clips and digital photos. It has been designed for private use and is not suitable to be used for commercial purposes.
5 Also do not use the Car Black Box in areas exposed to high humidity or considerable amounts of steam, smoke or dust. There is a danger of fire and electrocution. Electrical hazard Switch off the Car Black Box if a foreign body or liquid has entered the Car Black Box. Wait until completely dry before use, due to danger of fire and electrocution. Switch off the Car Black Box, if the Car Black Box has been dropped or its housing is damaged. There is a danger of fire and electrocution.
6 Hazards of using the rechargeable battery Danger of explosion in case of incorrect removal of the battery or use of incorrect type of battery. Never expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunlight, fire, etc. This is a fire or explosion hazard. Do not store the batteries near fire, stoves or other sources of heat. The batteries may not be thrown in fire, short-circuited, completely discharged, deformed or disassembled. There is a fire and explosion hazard.

10 Open lever (2) of the suction cup and press suction cup firmly against windscreen. Once in position, push down lever (2) completely. The suction cup should now be securely fastened to the windscreen. To release the suction cup from the windscreen pull again at tab (3) of the suction cup. To adjust Car Black Box, slightly release bolts (5) from both pivot joints (4) of the holder and adjust position of Car Black Box as required. Tighten bolts again.
11 4.5. Inserting and removing the memory card Prior to any recording, a memory card must first be inserted into the Car Black Box. Insert memory card into Car Black Box as shown until it clicks into place. To remove the memory card, press against the card until it protrudes slightly from the device and is ready for removal. For HD quality recording (1280 x 780 pixels) use SDHC memory cards of class 6 or higher.
12 5. Menu settings 5.1. Video menu For video record settings first press the MODE button to select the Video mode. Then press the MENU button to open the Video menu. The following setting options are available in the Video menu: Movie Size: HD: 1280x720 D1: 848x480 640: 640x480 • Video recording at 1280 x 720 pixels with 30 frames per seconds. Video recording at 848 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per seconds. Video recording at 640 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per seconds.
13 Loop time: 2min 5min 10min A new video recording file is opened every 2 minutes. A new video recording file is opened every 5 minutes. A new video recording file is opened every 10 minutes. Continue: Off 10min 20min On external power off, video recording stops. On external power off, video recording continues for 10 minutes. 14 Exposure: The brightness of photos can be adjusted within a range of -2.0EV (dark) to +2.0EV (bright). Select the desired EV value by pressing the UP or DOWN button. 15 Slide Show: Start Interval Repeat Voice Memo: Add Delete Start photo slideshow. Time interval between two photos during slide show. Select from 1 to 10 seconds using the MODE button. Repeat slideshow (Yes) or terminate upon completion (No). Add commentary to photo. The commentary is recorded as soon as the OK button is pressed. Recording is stopped by pressing the OK button again. Delete existing commentary of photo. Start-up Image: Set Set selected photo as start image. Cancel End menu. 5.4.
16 Power frequency: Set the mains frequency to the mains frequency of your local power supply grid either to 50 or 60 Hz. This prevents flickering when using the Car Black Box under artificial light conditions. 50 Hz is the required frequency of the local power supply in Australia. The default setting of the power frequency in the Car Black Box is 50 Hz. Power Save: 1min The CBB 2 switches off if no button has been pressed for 1 minute.
17 Start-up Image: Off No start image appears when the Car Black Box is switched on System A standard start image is displayed when the Car Black Box is switched on. My image A start image selected from the Photo menu appears when the Car Black Box is switched on. Format: The memory card can be directly formatted in the Car Black Box. Please note that all data contained on the memory card is erased during formatting! LED: OFF ON The auxiliary light is deactivated.
18 6. Using the Car Black Box 6.1. Video recording Switch on the Car Black Box and change to Video mode by pressing the MODE button. A video symbol appears in the top left corner when this mode has been selected. Press the OK button in the video mode to start recording or end an active video recording. If motion detection has been switched on in the video menu, the Car Black Box starts recording automatically as soon as a motion is detected.
19 6.2. Taking photos Switch on the Car Black Box and change to Photo mode using the MODE button. A photo symbol appears in the top left corner when this mode has been selected. Press the OK button in the Photo mode to take a photo. Timed or series photos can be taken if the respective option has been selected from the Photo menu. 6.3. Recording audio Switch on the Car Black Box and select Audio mode with the MODE button. An audio symbol appears in the top left corner when this mode has been selected.
20 7. Connecting to a computer and TV 7.1. System requirements The Car Black Box is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7 as well as with MacOS and Linux as USB removable storage device. For use of the Webcam function Windows XP (Service Pack 2), Vista or 7 is, however, required. 21 7.2. Transferring files To transfer files from the Car Black Box to a computer, use the supplied USB cable to connect the Car Black Box to a USB port of the computer. Switch on the Car Black Box and the USB selection will appear on the display. Select “MSDC“ and confirm the selection by pressing the OK button. The computer will then show an additional drive (Windows: removable storage device, for MacOS: unknown) allowing access to data contained on the Car Black Box memory card. 7.3.

25 12. Cleaning CAUTION! Disconnect the USB car adpater from the cigarette lighter socket prior to any cleaning. Do not use a solvent, aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning as these may damage the surface. Carefully clean the device with a soft cloth. Remove any stuborn stains by slightly wetting the cloth, whilst ensuring that no moisture enters the device. Wipe the device until completely dry. 13.
