ISA module: Serial Port
TheISAmodule’sserialportconnectorisconfiguredtolooklikeastandard9‐pin“DCE”serialport.In
comparison,atypicalPCcomputerwouldhavea9‐pin“DTE”serialport.Therefore,inmostapplicationsa
straightthroughserialcable(DB9‐Male‐to‐Female)isusedtoconnectthecontrolling
devicetothetransmitter.
Onthereceiveside,generallyanull‐modelcablewillberequired.However,checktheuser‐guideforyour
equipmentbeforeconnectinganycables.
Thefollowingfigureshowstheserial‐portpinoutfortheISAmodule.
Note:BoththetransmitterandreceiverusethesameISA
module.Therefore,youwilllikelyneedanull‐modem
orgender‐adaptercableatoneendortheother.
