MixingSingleandMulti‐modefiberinonesystem:
SinceVoyagertransmittersandreceiverssupportadaisy‐chainedconfiguration,eachfiber‐opticlinkcanbe
chosentouseeithersingle‐ormulti‐modefiber,dependingontherequireddistanceforthatlegofthelink.
Itissometimespossible,thoughnot
recommended,tousmulti‐modefiberwithsingle‐modefiber‐optic
modules,andsingle‐modefiberwithmulti‐modefiber‐opticmodules.Theextensionrangewillbeseverely
limited‐probablyontheorderof200morless.Again,thisintermixingoffiber‐typesandoptics‐typesisNOT
RECOMMENDEDand
willnotbeofficiallysupportedbyMagenta.However,forveryshortfiberlengths(10‐
20m)inalab‐benchtestforevaluationonly,itiscommontousethe“wrong”typeoffiber.


