Note: If USB is used, then the Clock Setup page is disabled until the USB cable is disconnected.
The “Word clock” option will only be illuminated and selectable when the Aurora
(n)
detects a valid clock
signal is being delivered to its WORD CLOCK input. When clocked via Word clock, the Aurora
(n)
will
follow whatever sample rate is being generated by the clock master. It is critical that the clock master is
generating the sample rate that matches the rate of your audio project, to prevent recording audio at the wrong
pitch and speed.
AES In 1-2 and AES In 9-10 will only be displayed when the LM-DIG board is installed in the Module 4
position. When clocked via AES Input, the Aurora
(n)
will follow whatever sample rate is being generated by
the AES device feeding the selected input. It is critical that the clock master is generating the sample rate that
matches the rate of your audio project, to prevent recording audio at the wrong pitch and speed.
Optical In 1 will replace AES In 9-10 when the DB-ADAT board is installed in addition to the LM-DIG
board. Please note when Optical In 1 is receiving an ADAT signal, it is only possible to Sync at 44.1 or
48kHz. If the external ADAT device is running at 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz it will be necessary to Sync to
the Word clock input instead of the ADAT input. If the Optical In 1 is receiving a SPDIF signal, it is possible
to sync to the Optical In 1 at any supported sample rate.
Dante is a unique case, in that clocking should generally be established from within the Dante network. For
this reason, the Aurora will default to “Dante” as the clock source when it is operating in a Dante system. In
that case, clock setting are managed from the Dante Controller software. It is possible to use the Aurora
Internal clock, or an external word clock source with Dante, but it is necessary to establish the Aurora
(n)
as
operating from “external” within the Dante Controller software. See
