Keep the access point away from strong electromagnetic ﬁelds (i.e. Air

Conditioner compressors, ﬂuorescent light ballasts, CRT monitors/televisions,

etc.), and free from vibration, dust and direct sun light.

4.4 Hardware Installation

4.4.1 Access Point Placement

This XAP-1010 implements Luxul’s Circular Polarized directional antenna technol-

ogy. For maximum efﬁciency, it should be aimed towards the area to which you

would like to provide coverage. With this in mind, the ideal placement option is

usually on an outside wall pointed into the coverage area; or in a multi-level instal-

lation, on the top ﬂoor ceiling pointed downwards.

4.4.2 Mounting the Access Point within a Wall or Ceiling

The XAP-1010 is designed to be installed within a standard 2 gang electrical box. A

remodel box is included with this kit. If you choose to use your own electrical box,

be sure it is UL listed and provides sufﬁcient shielding to minimize contamination

from dust, insulation and other external elements. Once the electrical box is in

place along with the appropriate Ethernet cable pulled inside the box, simply plug

the Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector and mount the access point directly to

the electrical box as shown in the diagram below:
