Important Notes
1. CAUTION: To avoid overheating and possible damage to
other equipment, do not use to control receptacles, motor-
operated or transformer-supplied appliances.
2. Use only to control Lutron Tu-Wire® fluorescent dimming
ballasts.
3. For proper dimming performance lamps must be operated at
full intensity for 100 hours prior to dimming.
4. Only one control can be used in a 3-way circuit.
5. If a bare copper or green ground connection is not available
in the wallbox, contact a licensed electrician for installation.
6. For new installations, wire a test switch before installing the
control.
7. Control may feel warm to the touch during normal operation.
8.
Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
Multi-Unit Installations
When combining controls in a wallbox, remove all inner side
sections prior to wiring (see below). Use pliers to bend side
section up and down until it breaks off. Repeat for each side
section to be removed. Reduction of control capacity is
required. Refer to chart below for maximum control capacity.

Important Wiring Information
Note: Wire connectors provided
are suitable for copper wire only.
For aluminum wire, consult an
electrician. Use connectors to join
one 14-gauge supply wire with
one 16- or 18-gauge control wire.
When making wire connections,
twist and trim wires to the proper
length as indicated:

To determine total ballast load, add the line current found on
the ballast label for all ballasts in the circuit. This will indicate
the total load for the control.

Installation
For installations involving more than one control in a wallbox, refer to
Multi-Unit Installations before beginning.
1 Turn power off at circuit breaker or remove fuse.
2 Remove wallplate. Pull switch from wall.
3 Identify type of switch:
4 Disconnect switch wires.
5 Wiring the control.
SINGLE POLE circuit:
•
Connect the green dimmer
wire to the bare copper or
green ground wire in the
wallbox, if present (see
Important Note 5).
• Using a wire connector,
connect the black dimmer
wire to either of the wires
removed from the switch.
• Using a wire connector,
connect the red dimmer
wire to the remaining wire
removed from the switch.
• Using a wire connector,
cap off the red/white
dimmer wire. This wire is
not used in a single pole
circuit.
3-WAY circuit:
•
Connect the green dimmer
wire to the bare copper or
green ground wire in the
wallbox, if present (see
Important Note 5).
• Using a wire connector,
connect the black dimmer
wire to the wire removed
from the different-colored
screw on the switch
(marked or tagged wire).
Remove tag from wire.
• Using a wire connector,
connect the red dimmer
wire to either of the
remaining wires removed
from the switch.
• Using a wire connector,
connect the red/white
dimmer wire to the
remaining wire removed
from the switch.
