23.2 SHARE YOUR DATA CONNECTION VIA USB
If your computer is running Windows 7 or a recent version of some flavors of Linux (e.g.
Ubuntu), you can follow the instructions below without any special preparation.
If your computer is running a version of Windows older than Windows 7, or some other
operating system, you may need to prepare your computer to establish a network connection
via USB.
1. Connect your phone to your computer using the original USB cable that came with
your phone (see “Connect to a computer via USB”, p. 176).
A USB icon appears in the Status bar, and the message Connected as an
installer” briefly appears in the Status bar and is also displayed in the Notifications
panel.
2. On a Home or All Apps screen, touch the Menu button.
3. Touch System settings.
4. Under Wireless and networks, touch More.
5. Touch Tethering & portable hotspot.
6. Check USB tethering.
Your computer is now sharing your phone’s data connection.
To stop sharing your data connection, uncheck USB tethering or disconnect the
USB cable.
NOTE: USB tethering is not supported on computers running Mac OS.
