CVC6930: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When looking at the camera during the night time, I don’t see the ‘typical’ red glow
coming from the IR (infrared) LEDs. Does this mean that the camera’s night vision is not
working?
No it does not. There are two types of IR LEDs commonly used in the CCTV industry. The most
widely used type projects 850nm (nanometer wavelength) light which is invisible to the human eye
but has the IR LEDs give off a red glow.
The second type projects 940nm light which is also invisible to the human eye however does not
cause the IR LEDs to give off a red glow. This helps prevent drawing attention to the camera during
the night time. The CVC6930 features these ‘covert’ 940nm IR LEDs which is why no red glow is
visible while night vision is turned on.
