Basic Operating Instructions
Connect the Sitter II to your computer and set the security sensor input to page your pager(s). When the sensor is
activated, your pagers will be called. Some possibilities are (see your programming instruction):
PROGRAMMING
Basic Procedure
Note: Systems are not programmed when shipped. The following describes the basic programming procedure.
1. Install the Sitter II programming software on your computer.
2. Start the program.
3. Connect the 7.5 VDC battery charger to the Sitter II.
4. Connect the programming cable from the computer serial port to the Sitter II programming connector.
5. At the programming screen, select the COM port used (usually COM 1).
6. Program the sensor switch input to page the desired pager(s) with the desired information.
7. After the functions are set, press the Update Unit button to load the Sitter II.
8. When finished, install the Sitter II where you will use it and put it into service.
Programming Screen
The Programming Screen controls all the functions loaded into
the Sitter II and programming of pagers.
Posey Commands Section
Update Unit – Loads the functions set on the screen into the
Sitter II.
Set Pager Time – Used to send the current time and date to the
numeric pagers.
Read Unit – Polls the Sitter II and displays its current functions.
Pgm Pagers – If on air programmable pagers are used, this
enables a screen to program them with the Sitter II.
Global Settings Section
Serial Num: – This is the serial number retrieved from the unit
being programmed (not input by user).
Sys ID: - This is the identification of the paging ID (0 through 12)
used with the system. This is used to prevent interference
from other systems that may be using a similar POCSAG
paging scheme.
Primary Caregiver Pager: – This is the number of the pager (1 through 9999) carried by the primary person that will
respond to an alarm from the system.
Name/Rm Num: - The name of the patient being monitored and/or the room and/or bed number that will appear on the
caregiver’s pager.
Page on Low Battery: - This box will be checked if the caregiver is to be notified that the battery in the Sitter II is getting
low and needs attention.
Page Acknowledge Section
On/Off: – This box is checked if a backup caregiver or supervisor is to be paged in case the primary caregiver does not
respond (unchecked is off).
Re-page Count: - How many times must the primary caregiver be paged before the backup caregiver or supervisor is
paged.
Re-page interval: – The period of time between pages to the primary caregiver (mm:ss).
Second Caregiver Pager: – This is the number of the pager (1 through 9999) carried by the backup caregiver or
supervisor.
Page Messages Section
Primary Sensor Message: – The alert message sent following the room/patient identifier (default Patient out of bed).
Second Pager Message: – When Page Acknowledge is enabled, the alert message sent following the room/patient
identifier when the primary caregiver does not respond (default Page not acknowledged).
Test/Reset On: - This enables or disables the test and reset (response) button on the Sitter II.
