4. FIRST AID MEASURES
General Advice
In case of rupture: Call 911 or emergency medical service. Remove and isolate contaminated
clothing and shoes.
Eye Contact
Immediate medical attention is required. In case of contact with substance, immediately flush
skin or eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes.
Skin Contact
For minor skin contact, avoid spreading material on unaffected skin. Wash off immediately with
soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Call a physician
immediately.
Inhalation
Move victim to fresh air. Apply artificial respiration if victim is not breathing. Administer oxygen
if breathing is difficult. Call a physician or Poison Control Center immediately.
Ingestion
Immediate medical attention is required. Call a physician or Poison Control Center
immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. Drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to
an unconscious person. Remove from exposure, lie down.
Notes to Physician
Product is a corrosive material. Use of gastric lavage or emesis is contraindicated. Possible
perforation of stomach or esophagus should be investigated. Do not give chemical antidotes.
Asphyxia from glottal edema may occur. Marked decrease in blood pressure may occur with
moist rales, frothy sputum, and high pulse pressure. Effects of exposure (inhalation, ingestion
or skin contact) to substance may be delayed. Keep victim warm and quiet. Treat
symptomatically.
Protection of First-aiders
Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to
protect themselves. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim ingested or inhaled the
substance; induce artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way
valve or other proper respiratory medical device.
