RSS Newsfeeds (SPA962)
RSS Newsfeeds (SPA962)
The SPA962 provides the option to view RSS newsfeeds. Press the Setup button-21 (Web Service) and
select one of the following options on the LCD display:
1. Stock Quote
2. Traffic
a. Option 2 shows "Traffic Service Information Settings" at the bottom.
b. Enter your state, street, city and zip code to dispay local traffic information (defaults to CA,
Cisco, San Jose, and 95134)
3. Local News (defaults to url http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_us.rss)
4. World News (defaults to url http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/world/rss.xml)
5. Finance News (defaults to http://finance.yahoo.com/rss/topstories)
6. Sport News (defaults to http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/sports)
7. Politics News (defaults to http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/politics)
Option 3 to 7 are configurable using the administration web server, as shown in the following procedure.
Step 1 Connect to the administration web server for the SPA962.
Step 2 Click Admin/Advanced on the administration web server page.
Step 3 Click the Phone tab.
Step 4 Change the name or URL used for each of the configurable options:
• Option 3—RSS Feed URL 1:
• Option 4—RSS Feed URL 2:
• Option 5—RSS Feed URL 3:
• Option 6—RSS Feed URL 4:
• Option 7—RSS Feed URL 5:
Step 5 Change the update interval, if desired (defaults to 15)..
Step 6 Change the default scrolling timer, if desired (defaults to 0.8).
When the news information is too large to be displayed in one window, the display automatically scrolls.
The Scrolling Timer defines the speed of the scrolling; the default is .8 seconds.
Step 7 Click Submit All Changes at the bottom of the page.
