Setting up the Linksys EA9300 Max-Stream AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router Setting up the Linksys EA9300 Max-Stream AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router is made easy using the Smart Setup wizard which is embedded in the router's firmware and is available even if the router does not have an internet connection or the router is on factory default settings. Before you begin: Make sure you have a working internet connection.
NOTE: Open the link to know the license terms and other information. If you prefer to manually set up the router, click on the Manual configuration link. Step 4: The Smart Setup wizard will now start to detect your internet connection. QUICK TIP: For some Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) customers, the setup will prompt for an Account name and Password from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Enter the necessary information then click Next to continue.
Step 5: In the Updates for your router window, the Install future router updates automatically (recommended) is checked by default; this allows automatic updates in the future. You can always change this option later. Click Next to proceed. Step 6: Enter your new Wi-Fi Network Name and Network Password. These will apply for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Click Next once done.
Step 7: Reconnect to your network. Now that your router has a new Wi-Fi name, you will need to connect your wireless device to it and enter the password to continue with setup. After you have connected to the new Wi-Fi settings, click Next. NOTE: If you are using a wired computer, it will proceed to the next step. Step 8: Create a new router password and password hint and click Next. QUICK TIP: This is your router’s local administrator password.
NOTE: The password hint is visible when you locally log in to the router, so make sure you don’t use your actual password. After setup, your password hint is now available on the Connectivity tool of your Linksys cloud account. You can also change the password hint anytime, click here for instructions. Step 9: Your router is set up! Ensure that you write down the new settings for future reference.
Creating a Linksys cloud account Before you begin: When you create a Linksys cloud account for the first time, it is recommended that you are connected to your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router’s wireless network in order to associate your new account with your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router. Step 1: Open a browser and enter “linksyssmartwifi.com” in the Address bar and hit [ENTER] to access the login page.
Step 2: Click the Click here link. Step 3: Create an account. Enter the necessary information in the fields provided. Read and accept the End User License Agreement, Terms of Service, and Privacy Statement then click Create My Account. You will receive an email that will ask you to activate your account.
Checking the Send me information about Linksys products, services, and special offers box is optional. If the page appears distorted (e.g., there are no entry fields to type in), refresh the page or try using a different web browser as there might be plug-ins or add-ons that are outof-date. Step 4: Check your email. Open the message from Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Mailer. NOTE: If the message is not found in your Inbox, check the Junk or Spam folders.
NOTE: You can also click the button at the upper corner of the window. Step 7: Log in. Enter the Linksys cloud account Email Address and Password you just created then click Sign In. Step 8: Associate Router. Associate your router to your account by entering your router's administrative password in the space provided and click Ok. NOTES: The Router Password is set to admin by default. However, if you have changed it, then use the current router password instead.
If you encounter several failed log in attempts, this may lead to your account being temporarily suspended. How to connect wireless devices to your network using the Linksys cloud account Linksys Smart Wi-Fi is an application that allows you to securely access your home network from a web browser or mobile device.
Changing the icon of the device Step 1: Access your Linksys cloud account. To know how, click here. Step 2: Click Device List on the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools navigation menu. Step 3: Click on a device name to display details such as Name, Manufacturer, Model, IP Address, and MAC Address. NOTE: Devices with the Offline status will not display the Manufacturer, Model, IP Address, and MAC Address information. Step 4: Click the Change link to change the icon for this device.
Step 5: Choose one (1) from the available icons that you want to use for your device. Step 6: Click to apply the change. Changing the name of the device Step 1: Click the Device List tab on your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools navigation menu.
Click on a device name. NOTE: In this example, an iPad® was used. Step 3: Click Edit to change the name that will appear for the device in the Device List. IMPORTANT: If you are trying to change the name of the router, the new name will also be displayed automatically on the Network's drop-down list on the top of the Home page. Step 4: Click to apply the change.
Removing connected devices Wired and wireless devices that are currently connected to your network cannot be removed from the Device List section of the Linksys cloud account. The device’s status should be Offline before you can remove it from your network. To remove a device, follow the instructions below according to the specific network connection that your device is using: Wired Device – Turn the device OFF and check its status on the Device List page. Click the X button to remove the device.

This feature allows you to seamlessly connect your wireless devices to the Internet without the hassle of plugging cables to your devices. NOTE: If you have a Linksys WRT1900AC router, click on the Network Map Tool instead. Step 3: Click on the Add a Device button. Step 4: In the Select the type of device to add to your network page, select Other.
Step 5: Take note of the Network Name (SSID), Password, and Security Type on the Add a wireless device page. Step 6: Enter the Password or Security Key and the Security Type, if asked. NOTE: Some devices require the Security Type. Step 7: When the device is connected, click device should now be able to access the Internet. in the Add a wireless device page. Your QUICK TIP: The device you've just connected should now be displayed on the Device List / Network Map.
Some Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers support only the more secure Wi-Fi Protected Access® (WPA™/WPA2™) as Security Type for your wireless network. If you're having trouble connecting a device or gaming system such as PlayStation® Portable (PSP), Nintendo DS™, TiVo®, wireless printer or other devices, it may be using an older security method called Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).
Step 3: Toggle the ON/OFF switch when choosing to either disable or enable the Guest Access feature if it’s not yet set up.
QUICK TIP: This feature is disabled by default. This will be enabled once you run the Smart Setup software. NOTE: Some Linksys routers only support a Guest network on the 2.4 GHz band. Also, for TriBand routers such as the EA9200, EA9400, and EA9500, 5 GHz Guest clients connect only to the 5 GHz1 network. Step 4: Click Edit. Enter your desired Guest network name and password in the appropriate fields. It is recommended to keep the suffix –guest at the end of the name.
Step 6: Click to save your settings. Have your guests connect to the Guest network using whatever methods they typically use to connect to a wireless network. Once connected, have them open an Internet browser and enter the Guest network password when the prompt appears. Connecting a wireless computer to the Guest network The Guest network is an added feature of the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers and Linksys WiFi Routers.
