: Once the inside ribs of the oil pan have been ground away, check clearance by
placing the pan on the engine without any gaskets. Make sure that the oil pan sits ush
against the engine block at all mating surfaces. If the pan is sitting ush against the block,
there should not be any “rocking” of the oil pan. If the pan does not sit ush, check for ad-
ditional areas that may need to be ground for clearance.
: With all nuts related to the windage tray and oil pump pickup torqued to proper
specications, install the gasket and oil pan. Oil pan bolt torque specication is 18 lb-ft.
