Step 1:
Note:
This is easiest if the engine is on an engine stand so that it can be ipped upside
down.

Place two 8mm washers onto all ten main cap studs as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3.
This should provide a clearance of 0.125in to 0.140in. This clearancing will cover all GM
vehicles.

Install the windage tray and snug the retaining nuts. Rotate the crankshaft and
inspect to make sure the crankshaft and connecting rod ends clear the entire windage tray.
Clearance should be about 0.080 in.

Once clearance of the windage tray has been veried, secure the retaining nuts by
torquing them to 18 lb-ft.
