WIRING
The operator has been factory wired for
Type B2 as standard (momentary contact
to
open, close
and
stop
).
Diagrams to convert the operator to Type
C2 are included (momentary contact to
open
and
stop
, with constant pressure to
close)
.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the operator motor and frame
assembly according to the Owner's
Manual for your model operator, (either
GT or GJ).
2. Securely attach the electrical enclosure
to the wall, adjacent to and within sight
of the door and operator. See Figure 1.
CONNECT HIGH VOLTAGE
All high voltage wiring
to
the explosion-proof electrical enclosure and
from
the electrical
enclosure to the motor:
1. Must be contained in rigid conduit.
2. Must be installed in accordance with the current National Electrical Code, articles 500
through 516 and/or local requirements for wiring in hazardous locations. See Figure 1.
Refer to proper schematic, wiring diagram and motor wiring for your type wiring, voltage and
phase - Pages 10 through 20.
CONNECT INTRINSICALLY SAFE WIRING
TO LIMIT SWITCHES AND CONTROL
Since this wiring is intrinsically safe, the factory installed junction box and associated conduit
runs do not have to conform to hazardous wiring codes. NEMA
I
enclosures may be used
without the risk of creating a hazard. Check for local codes and requirements.
Connect wires from factory installed junction box to control station, limit switch terminal strip,
and safety edge switch if used. Also refer to Figures 1, 2A, and 2B, and also to control and
limit switch connection diagrams for your type wiring, - pages 8 and 9.
Wires in junction box are color coded and numbered. These numbers correspond to the ter-
minal strip numbers in the limit switch enclosure.
When wiring is complete, install electrical enclosure cover using the hex head screws
provided. Make sure that the cover flange and the enclosure flange have been wiped clean.
NEVER OPERATE THIS EQUIPMENT IN AN
EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE WITH THE COVER
REMOVED. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN
SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH
FROM AN EXPLOSION.
TO CONDUCT CONTINUITY CHECKS OF THE
INTRINSICALLY SAFE FIELD WIRING, DISCON-
NECT FACTORY WIRING IN THE FACTORY
INSTALLED JUNCTION BOX. EXTERNALLY
APPLIED VOLTAGE OF THE CONTINUITY
TESTER COULD DAMAGE THE BARRIER AND
REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.
