INSTALLATION Unpacking the Refrigerator kPa), you can install a booster pump to compensate for the low pressure. WARNING • Use two or more people to move and install the refrigerator. Failure to do so can result in back injury or other injury. • The refrigerator is heavy. Protect the floor when moving the refrigerator for cleaning or service. Always pull the refrigerator straight out when moving it. Do not wiggle or walk the refrigerator when trying to move it, as floor damage could occur.
INSTALLATION 13 Dimensions and Clearances • Check the dimensions of the appliance and the installation path to ensure there is sufficient room to move the refrigerator through doors or narrow openings. • The installation location chosen for the refrigerator should allow space behind the unit for connections and airflow and space in front to open the doors and drawers. • Too small of a distance from adjacent items may result in lowered freezing capability and increased electricity consumption charges.
INSTALLATION • Tools Needed - Flat-head screwdriver - Phillips screwdriver - Adjustable wrench - 1/4 in. Hex socket wrench - 3/8 in. Hex socket wrench - 10 mm Hex socket wrench - 1/4 in. Hex Key Wrench Removing the Freezer Door 1 Gently pry off the top hinge cover a with a flat-head screwdriver and remove it. 2 Using 10 mm or 3/8 inch socket wrench, remove the three bolts and lift the top hinge b. Set parts aside.
INSTALLATION 15 Assembling the Refrigerator Door 1 • Type A 2 Lift up the refrigerator door slightly and remove it. Set the door aside on a nonscratching surface. • Type B • Type A • Type B 2 Place the middle hinge pin b inside the hinge pin sleeve c on the top of the refrigerator door. 3 Hold the door in place and line up the hinge with the holes in the refrigerator housing. 4 Use the two bolts and the screw to reattach the middle hinge bracket to the refrigerator housing.
INSTALLATION - Adjustable wrench Removing the Freezer Door 1 Gently pry off the top hinge cover a with a flat-head screwdriver and remove it. 2 Use 10 mm or 3/8 inch socket wrench, remove the three bolts and lift off the top hinge b. Set parts aside. 3 Lift freezer door slightly and remove it. 4 Turn the freezer door upside down on a nonscratching surface. Loosen the screw to remove the hinge lever and hinge pin sleeve.
INSTALLATION 17 2 Slightly lift the refrigerator door and remove it. • Type A ENGLISH 7 8 Reverse the hinge lever e by flipping it over. Place it on top of the bracket and tighten both down with the screw. • Type B Set the freezer door to the side. Removing the Refrigerator Door 1 Using a 1/4 in. socket wrench, loosen and remove the middle hinge pin a from the middle hinge bracket b. Remove the washer c underneath the middle hinge and set the parts aside.
INSTALLATION • Type B • Type A • Type B 5 Reattach the bottom hinge pin to the opposite side of the bottom hinge bracket. • Type A • Type B 6 Using a 3/8 in. socket wrench with a 2-inch extension, loosen the 2 bolts on the bottom hinge bracket. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw. CAUTION • Be careful that the refrigerator does not fall forward if the model purchased has the leveler attached to the bottom hinge bracket.
INSTALLATION 19 1 • Type B ENGLISH Move the bottom hinge bracket to the left side of the housing, keeping the same orientation, and reattach with the two bolts and one screw. • Type A • Type B NOTE • The leveler is only present on some models. NOTE 3 Move the decorative screws to the holes on the bottom right side of the housing. 4 Turn the refrigerator door upside down on a non-scratching surface. 5 Loosen the three screws to remove the bracket b and the hinge pin sleeve c .
INSTALLATION 10 Place the refrigerator door down over the bottom hinge pin on the bottom hinge bracket. 11 Place the washer i between the refrigerator door and the middle hinge bracket and reattach the middle hinge pin j to the middle hinge bracket with a 1/4 in. socket wrench. NOTE • The hinge lever is only present on some models. 7 With a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry off and remove the decorative cover e over the screw holes on the left side of the refrigerator housing.
INSTALLATION 21 Place the freezer door down over the middle hinge pin on the middle hinge bracket. 3 Place the top hinge on top of the freezer door and line up the top hinge with the holes on top of the refrigerator. Use the three bolts to attach the hinge. To ensure a good seal, apply a small amount of silicon grease on the corners a of the gaskets. ENGLISH 2 Leveling the Refrigerator The refrigerator has two front leveling legs. Adjust the legs to alter the tilt from front-to-back or sideto side.
INSTALLATION Connecting Refrigerator to Water Supply Before Beginning These instructions assume you have an existing water supply connection for the refrigerator. If necessary, call a qualified plumber to install a water supply line for the refrigerator. • Turn the icemaker OFF if the refrigerator will be used before the water line is connected. • Do not install the icemaker tubing in areas where the ambient temperatures fall below freezing. WARNING • Connect to potable water supply only.
INSTALLATION 23 ENGLISH are using PEX, the tubing may already have the required fittings at either end. Make sure the tubing is fully inserted into the valve. INSTALLATION Start the Icemaker • If the water line is connected, set the icemaker power switch to the ON position. • The icemaker will not begin to operate until it reaches its operating temperature of 15 °F (–9 °C) or below. It will then begin operation automatically if the icemaker power switch is in the ON (I) position.
OPERATION 25 OPERATION ENGLISH Before Use Checklist Clean the refrigerator. Clean the refrigerator thoroughly and wipe off all dust accumulated during shipping. CAUTION • Do not scratch the refrigerator with a sharp object or use a detergent that contains alcohol, a flammable liquid, or an abrasive when removing any tape or adhesive from the refrigerator. Remove adhesive residue by wiping it off with your thumb or dish detergent.
OPERATION Control Panel Depending on the model, some of the following functions may not be available. The actual control panel may differ from model to model. Control Panel Features † This control panel is only available on some models. Control Panel 1: Inside the Refrigerator† a Water Lock† Press this button to disable the water dispenser. b Temperature Adjust Press this button repeatedly to select a desired setting between COLD and COLDER.
OPERATION 27 Control Panel 2: Inside the Freezer ENGLISH The freezer control should ship set to the middle setting (number 3). Wait 24 hours before adjusting the freezer compartment temperature. Roll the knob to set the freezer temperature as you desire. ALWAYS wait 24 hours after any adjustment to reach the desired temperature. NOTE • The higher the number on the freezer control, the colder the set temperature will be. Water Dispenser Using the Dispenser This feature is only available on some models.
OPERATION The feature may vary depending on model purchased. NOTE • Throw away the first bin full of ice (about 140160 cubes) after installation. To Remove the Crisper Cover 1 Remove both crisper drawers. 2 Remove the crisper glass. 3 While holding the support and crisper cover, pull up and out. Pantry Drawer This feature is only available on some models. Removing/Assembling the Pantry Drawer 1 To remove, grasp the drawer handle and pull it forward to the drawer stop. Lift up and pull out.
OPERATION 2 To assemble the bin, slide it in above the desired support and push down until it snaps into place. CAUTION 2 • Regularly detach and wash the storage bins and shelves; they can become easily contaminated by food. Twist the ice tray to remove the ice cubes. • Empty the bin before removing it. • Do not apply excessive force while detaching or assembling the storage bins. • Do not use the dishwasher to clean the storage bins and shelves.
SMART FUNCTIONS 33 SMART FUNCTIONS This feature is only available on models with the c or d logo. The LG ThinQ application allows you to communicate with the appliance using a smartphone. Installing the LG ThinQ Application Search for the LG ThinQ application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on a smartphone. Follow instructions to download and install the application.
MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE Cleaning WARNING • Use non-flammable cleaner. Failure to do so can result in fire, explosion, or death. CAUTION • Do not use an abrasive cloth or sponge when cleaning the interior and exterior of the refrigerator. • Do not place your hand on the bottom surface of the refrigerator when opening and closing the doors. General Cleaning Tips • Both the refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically; however, clean both sections once a month to prevent odors.

If your water pressure exceeds 80 psi, you must install a pressure limiting valve. Contact a plumber if uncertain how to check your water pressure.
MAINTENANCE 4 Push the water filter up into the filter receptacle and rotate it clockwise to lock it into place. Once installed correctly, you should not be able to rotate the filter clockwise any more. 5 After the water filter is replaced, dispense 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approximately 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants from the system. NOTE • Do not dispense the entire 2.5 gallon amount continuously.

TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLESHOOTING FAQs Frequently Asked Questions Q: What are the best temperature settings for my refrigerator and freezer? A: The default setting for the refrigerator is the middle setting on the control (number 3). The default setting for the freezer is the middle setting on the control (number 3). Adjust these settings as necessary to keep food at desired temperatures. Milk should be cold when stored on the inner shelf of the refrigerator.
TROUBLESHOOTING 39 Problem Cooling system runs too much. Possible Cause & Solution The door is opened often or a large amount of food / hot food was added. Doors are not closed completely. • Firmly push the doors shut. If they will not shut all the way, the "Doors will not close correctly or pop open" section in Troubleshooting. Refrigerator is installed in a hot location. • The compressor will run longer under warm conditions.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible Cause & Solution Refrigerator or Freezer section is too cold. Incorrect temperature control settings. Frost or ice crystals form on frozen food (inside of sealed package). Condensation from food with a high water content has frozen inside of the food package. • If the temperature is too cold, adjust the control one increment at a time and wait for the temperature to stabilize. Refer to the Control Panel for more information.
TROUBLESHOOTING 41 Ice Problem Doors are opened often or for long periods of time. • If the doors of the unit are opened often, ambient air will warm the refrigerator which will prevent the unit from maintaining the set temperature. Lowering the refrigerator temperature can help, as well as not opening the doors as frequently. Doors are not closed completely. • If the doors are not properly closed, ice production will be affected.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Water is not dispensing. Possible Cause & Solution The dispenser panel is locked. • Press and hold the Lock button for three seconds to unlock the control panel and dispenser. The dispenser is not set for water dispensing. • The dispenser can be set for ice or water. Make certain that the control panel is set for the proper operation. Press the Water button on the control panel to dispense water. Refrigerator or freezer doors are not closed properly.
TROUBLESHOOTING 43 Parts & Features Problem Food packages are blocking the door open. • Rearrange food containers to clear the door and door shelves. Ice bin, crisper cover, pans, shelves, door bins, or baskets are out of position. • Push bins all the way in and put crisper cover, pans, shelves and baskets into their correct positions. See the Operation section for more information. The doors were removed during product installation and not properly replaced.
