Use 4 × M10 or 7/16" UNC stainless steel hex head bolts of suitable length to secure the deck unit and motor/gearbox to the deck. 3. Drill and cut the holes to the size detailed on the template. With a sandwich construction, it is important to seal the exposed surfaces. 4.
● Fitting ● Montage 5 5. Remove the drum cap, washer and drum by undoing the cap with the key provided. Apply a small quantity of sealant to the underside of the hex head bolts. Place the bolts through the deck unit, peel the backing paper from the ring gasket provided and stick firmly over the hex head bolts in the recess. Replace the drum and washer and secure them with the drum cap. 6. Apply a bead of suitable sealant, or use the gasket supplied and mount the capstan through the deck. 7.

Keep capstan wiring separate from other wiring, and connect to starter battery where possible. The control box/solenoid and circuit breaker must be kept dry. All switches must be wired in parallel. ● ● ● ● Warning! ● ● If you are not sure you understand the guidelines, seek professional help. Ensure installation complies with USCG, ABYC, NMMA or other local regulations.

Plan the position of the contactors (control box) or solenoid deck switches near to the capstan, preferably in a dry environment. Remove the control box lid and mount the control box (or fix the contactors/solenoid switches) in position.

Use footswitch to operate the capstan. 3. Do not overload capstan. Avoid stalling capstan. 4. Secure rope to independent strong point, e.g. cleat, to prevent release. WARNING: When not in use, you must isolate the capstan electrically at the circuit breaker/isolator. 1.

Docking or Anchor warp should be laid onto the drum, three turns in a clockwise direction.
● Schedule Regularly: 1. Look after your Capstan! At least every 6 months disassemble the above deck parts, wash down with fresh water and lightly oil (SAE10) the seal, shaft, cone clutch and spline. Ensure that the base, below the drum, is well cleaned and the sealing ring is checked. Grease the threads on the drum cap before re-assembly. The bearing is self lubricating and should not require servicing.
